Friday Night, Dishes, No Thesis
Nothing to report on MMM tonight. Three posts in a row about the same few pages, and my head wants to sit somewhere else.
I put on TUJIKO NORIKO and started the dishes. Then I stopped, standing there with a wet plate, because there was a stretch where the voice goes into one syllable and just stays. I realized I was waiting for it to turn into a word. It didn’t. I kept waiting anyway, the whole stretch, like when a word is on the tip of your tongue, except here there is no word.
With Japanese lyrics I usually catch myself listening for the meaning first and the sound second. This time it went the other way round for once. I liked it more than I want to admit, and I don’t know how to write about it. Every sentence I try turns it into something it wasn’t.
I dried the plate eventually.
